Hello! I’m Carlos Gonçalves, a cybersecurity professional with over a decade of experience in the information security industry. My journey into technology began at an early age, driven by a passion for computers and tinkering with all things tech. Back in the late ’90s, I was deeply involved in NES and SNES ROM hacking, which sharpened my skills as a self-taught developer and set the foundation for my future career.
I hold a degree in Physics and have pursued postgraduate studies in Software Engineering along with an MBA in Business Innovation and Digital Transformation. This strong technical and academic background has equipped me with a unique perspective on cybersecurity, blending deep technical knowledge with strategic business insights.
Currently, I lead the Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) team at Banco do Brasil, where I oversee threat intelligence, hunting, and strategic security efforts. In this role, I direct a comprehensive security program that integrates the efforts of red teams, blue teams, and incident response teams. I’m proud to have established Banco do Brasil as a key player in global threat-sharing communities, fostering active participation and collaboration on the international stage.
Throughout my career, I’ve specialized in areas like penetration testing, application security, cryptography, and incident response. My hands-on expertise and managerial experience have been instrumental in implementing intelligence-driven cybersecurity strategies. I’ve been deeply involved in driving the bank’s Threat Intelligence-based Ethical Red Teaming process, continuously advancing our defenses against evolving threats.
I’m passionate about sharing knowledge and collaborating with the global security community to create a safer cyberspace. Whether it’s through speaking at international cybersecurity events or writing this blog, my goal is to make complex security concepts accessible to everyone.
Thank you for visiting my blog! I hope you find the insights and experiences shared here valuable. Feel free to connect, share your thoughts, or ask questions. Together, we can work towards a more secure digital world.
Carlos Gonçalves
